With Less Than a Week Before Training Camp, Two Draft Picks Remain Unsigned

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah still has some work to do. Most of the draft picks have put pen to paper, but Ed Ingram and Andrew Booth Jr. still need to sign their deals.

The transaction page on Vikings.com has Minnesota’s last move as the Akayleb Evans signing. He was the 8th of 10 draft picks to sign. Unless I’m missing something, Ingram and ABJ still haven’t agreed to a contract. Spotrac and Over the Cap both suggest they aren’t officially under contract with the team.

Fans have high hope for ABJ. He slid into the second largely due to injury concerns. From what I can gather, the young corner consistently battled health issues throughout his college career. Lasting to the second round was the result of these concerns, not on-field struggles. Ingram has navigated serious off-field issues. Some evaluators suggested that if we simply isolated his on-field play, it was still a reach to take him at the end of the second round.

Truth be told, I don’t know why they’re holding out. My understanding is that the options for a rookie contract are somewhat limited. Some of the finer details of the deal, quite evidently, are negotiable. Adofo-Mensah will surely want to avoid seeing the contract uncertainty for Ed Ingram and Andrew Booth Jr. continue, so perhaps we’ll see a deal by the end of the week.
