The Minnesota Vikings had a miraculous 33-point comeback on Sunday to secure the greatest comeback in NFL history, earn their 21st division crown, and end a 25-year losing streak against the Indianapolis Colts. Oh, and they did it in the franchise’s 1000th game. Not too bad in a week’s work, but one lingering concern was the health of their star left tackle Christian Darrisaw.

Darrisaw made his return to the field on Saturday after missing three straight games due to concussions in back-to-back weeks. A similar phenomenon recently landed rookie cornerback Akayleb Evans on injured reserve.

Darrisaw’s return seemed like it was going without a hitch, but then, he left the game not once, but twice, as the Vikings were mounting their second half comeback. Human nature, as well as the fact that this is the Vikings we were talking about, forced thoughts to immediately return to the left tackle’s concussion history.

However, following the game, Darrisaw sent out a tweet that should have given fans a sigh of relief. As it turns out, the problems resulted from cramping, not his recent injuries.

Due to the game wearing on, and the Vikings offense needing to overcome a 33-point deficit, it’s understandable that cramps became a factor for the offensive line. The Vikings offense ran 61 plays in the second half and overtime, a total that could be akin to entire games in some weeks.

The Vikings are officially going to host at least one playoff game this winter, and they will need their star offensive lineman at full health. His second NFL season has been a masterclass of what it means to play left tackle at the NFL level. Prior to the year, he was given comparisons to greats like Trent Williams, and he’s fully lived up to them when healthy.

Especially considering the Vikings are already down Garrett Bradbury at center, they need the rest of their o-line to remain healthy the rest of the way. Yesterday was a bit of a scare, but it appears that they are remaining healthy heading into their Christmas Eve game against the New York Giants.
