Last preseason, A.J. Rose did a nice job for the Vikings. In three games, Rose put together 151 rushing yards and a couple TDs. His abilities led some Vikings fans to believe he could stick around the roster, but running back is one of the deepest positions on the team.

Rose was still with the team to begin the offseason, but he ended up being cut earlier to make room for Albert Wilson. He has since been given the chance to join the Rams. LA’s depth chart at RB isn’t as formidable as Minnesota’s, so it’s possible he gets more opportunity there. He seems excited for his opportunity:

There has been a bit of a talent exodus for the Rams during the offseason. Even still, they ought to be considered the favorite in the NFC. Sean McVay is still in town, Matthew Stafford will be throwing passes to Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald won’t be retiring. That combination – alongside lots more talent – makes them contenders. The top two players in their RB depth chart are Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson. If A.J. Rose can show that he’s a strong special teams contributor and a capable fill in at RB, then he’ll have a shot at being the RB3.

Meanwhile, Minnesota will be hoping their rushing attack returns to dominance. Dalvin Cook wasn’t nearly as dynamic last season as in previous years. It’s possible that lessening Cook’s workload and/or changing how they use him will allow the injury-prone back to stay healthy for a full season. Alexander Mattison, Kene Nwangwu, and Ty Chandler all have a shot at getting touches. C.J. Ham, the team’s fullback, ought to also get a couple touches a game.
