With the Minnesota Vikings set to kick off against the Arizona Cardinals less than 24 hours from now, the Vikings have made one final roster move prior to the game. In an effort to bolster their depth at tight end, Minnesota elevated Jacob Hollister from the practice squad on Saturday.

This is the second time that Hollister has been activated this season since Minnesota signed him on September 27th. The signing came in response to Ben Ellefson’s groin injury which placed him on IR. In the first game following Ellefson’s injury, it was Nick Muse, who got the elevation in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears.

Hollister goes into Week 8 as the Vikings TE3 behind Irv Smith Jr. and Johnny Mundt. In Week 6, this position saw him get snaps exclusively on special teams, and that likely is where Hollister lands again this week. However, if he does get some run on the offense, he should be fairly prepared to produce.

This is Hollister’s sixth season in the NFL, and this week’s opponent, the Arizona Cardinals, have gotten very familiar with the tight end over the course of his career. He spent two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and 2020.

From 2019-2021, he played against the Cardinals a total of four times, totaling 12 receptions for 115 yards. One of those games led to an outburst of five receptions and 64 yards on December 22, 2019.

Overall, Hollister has appeared in 58 games, including 12 starts, for four different teams. He’s been targeted 129 times and caught 83 passes for 707 yards and seven TDs. With Smith having some struggles as a receiver over the start of the season, perhaps this is the week where Hollister gets some snaps with the Vikings offense.

The Cardinals and Vikings are scheduled to kick off at 12 PM CST at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday.
