It took longer than expected but, after a series of trades, the Minnesota Vikings have finally drafted a starting-quality cornerback.

With the 42nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings have selected Andrew Booth Jr, the cornerback out of the University of Clemson.

Andrew Booths Jr. is a talented cornerback who fell in the draft due mostly to injury concerns. The 6’0, 195 pound corner is an elite athlete with quick feet and a smooth backpedal.

Booth combines athleticism with excellent ball skills, as he recorded three interceptions last season as a junior. One of his most memorable plays was a one handed interception against Virginia.

The knee injury concerns, which have plagued him going back to childhood, are rather serious. However, if he can stay on the field, Booth Jr. is a great football player that fills a position of need.

Entering the draft, the Vikings were lacking at cornerback. The only two starting-quality outside cornerbacks on the roster were Patrick Peterson and Cameron Dantzler. Booth should come in and compete for the #1 corner spot from day #1, instantly upgrading the roster.

The Minnesota Vikings will get another chance to upgrade the roster soon. They pick again with the #59 overall selection, so stay tuned to PurplePTSD.com for more updates.
