Apparently, Russell Wilson is a Purple Possibility

The chances of this happening are slim to none, and yet it’s notable when the rumors fly. Could Russell Wilson be the Vikings’ QB in 2022?
According to PFF, it’s a possibility:
Adding Wilson would be reason for excitement. He’d give Minnesota a QB1 who can elevate the roster.
Obviously, things have been declining in Seattle, and Russ isn’t beyond reproach. He has had rough patches recently, so there ought to be at least some concern about how he’ll perform in the future. Keep in mind that he’s already 34.
When he’s on, though, he has a ceiling that’s far higher than Kirk Cousins. Wilson has won a SB and been to another. His career record is an impressive 104-53-1, far superior to KC’s .500 record. His ability to scramble would add another dynamic to the Vikings offense. Most importantly, his capacity to perform in clutch moments would be huge for the Vikings.
One wonders what it might cost to acquire him. A couple firsts seems like a good bet, and it could very realistically cost more. Obviously, bringing Russell Wilson in means the Vikings moving on from Kirk Cousins. A Cousins trade could help offset the draft capital loss, and it would open the necessary money to make it all work.
Speaking of money, Wilson has two years left on his deal. His 2022 hit is $37 million, but Seattle would retain most of that in a trade. The signing bonus means they’d be on the hook for $26 million if he was traded. In 2023, Wilson would have a $40 million cap hit. That’s a more manageable number than Cousins’ current hit.
It’s worth reining in expectations as we get to the end. The chances of Wilson in Minnesota are small. However, it would be a huge deal if it did occur. An offense that features Wilson alongside Minnesota’s uber-talented skill players would be incredibly exciting.
