Adam Thielen Restructure Gives Vikings Room to Make Moves

This one was expected. After hints earlier in the week about remaining in town, the Vikings have been able to restructure the Adam Thielen deal.
Adding on another $5 million would put the Vikings at roughly $7.5 million in space. It’s not a ton, and yet it’s enough to bring in vets on low-end deals or sign someone for a mid-sized deal.
Also, we shouldn’t forget that the Danielle dilemma is ongoing. Depending on how things shake out, the Vikings could get another sizeable cash infusion. One also wonders about an Eric Kendricks restructure. Trading Garrett Bradbury would free up more than $2.25 million and a C.J. Ham cut would clear almost $2 million. Moreover, the Dalvin Cook contract may get adjusted.
The Vikings, in other words, could complement the Adam Thielen restructure by making several other moves.
There are quite a few prominent players out there who can still help this team. On the most recent episode of Notes from the North, Sam and I debated the merits of choosing one of three available FAs: Za’Darius Smith, J.C. Tretter, or Stephon Gilmore. There’s a case to be made for all three, and one wonders if the Vikings will look toward one of them to fill a roster need.
The Vikings offense still needs help along the OL, but there’s no excuse. This is a side of the ball that needs to be dominant.
