Some recent Vikings were included in the NFL’s first round of cuts.

Of course, most Minnesota fans focused on Andre Mintze, Tyarise Stevenson, Jake Bargas, Thomas Hennigan, and Tye Smith given that they were Minnesota’s first cuts. For some fans, though, it’s interesting to follow the careers of players who used to play for Minnesota.

Spotrac provides a helpful list of the cuts. Using information from PFR, I offer up a brief recap of these players’ time in Minnesota. Take a look at some of the former Vikings who didn’t make it through the first round of cuts.

Jaleel Johnson, DT

A 2017 fourth-round pick, Johnson played 4 seasons in Minnesota. In 2020, he started in all 16 games. It was in 2019, however, when he set a career-high for sacks with 3.5, a solid number given that he was a rotational DT. After moving on from the Vikings, he played for the Texans. New Orleans had him on their team, but they’ve decided to move on.

Chad Beebe, WR

Many will remember Beebe as the tough, speedy slot receiver who contributed for a few seasons with the Vikings. He was signed as an UDFA, getting his first snaps with the Vikings in 2018. In 2020, he turned 30 targets into 20 catches for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also received some opportunity to be a returner on special teams. After leaving Minnesota, he signed with Houston.

Dylan Mabin, CB

The Vikings signed him in November of 2020. He only played 19 snaps on defense and then 15 on special teams. He allowed 4 of 5 passes to be completed into his coverage. The Vikings waived him last August.

Evin Ksiezarczyk, OT

The 6’6, 310 pound offensive tackle was briefly with the Vikings. The team brought him in in May of 2021. They went on to waive him in August of 2021. He has since been with Washington, Buffalo, and Kansas City.

It’s very possible, folks, that there are players I’m missing. In other words, don’t assume I’ve made an exhaustive list. Rather, these are some players who recently played for Minnesota. Fans who enjoy following the careers of former Vikings can keep an eye on how things progress for Johnson, Beebe, Mabin, Ksiezarczyk, and others around the NFL.

In addition to a bone bruise, Wilson suffered said injury in New York’s preseason opener this past weekend. There’s some good news on this front. Wilson’s surgery was considered a success with the surgeon merely trimming his meniscus. While the bone bruise is still a bit concerning, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport notes that Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens is still in play.
