Seven Vikings Listed as Inactive for Week 2

The injury bug has struck the Vikings early and often so far into the 2021 season. It continues to be an issue just hours ahead of their week 2 matchup in Arizona. Minnesota has officially listed seven players as inactive against the Cardinals today. That list includes the following:

LB Anthony Barr

LT Christian Darrisaw

LB Chazz Surratt

DE Everson Griffen

CB Harrison Hand

DT James Lynch

QB Kellen Mond

Of course, this will take a lot of depth away from the Vikings against a dangerous Cardinals team. Specifically on the offensive line, not having Darrisaw yet again could spell disaster against Arizona’s pass rush. On the other side of the trenches, Everson Griffin’s concussion is especially unfortunate when you consider it didn’t even happen on the football field. The injury occurred as Griffen was driving to the practice facility and was in a car accident while trying to avoid hitting a deer.

However, while seven is a bit of a lengthy list, there is some good news with the absence of Eric Kendrick’s name. Kendricks has been questionable due to a quad injury, but to this point, it seems like he will be giving it a go. The linebacker will be an instrumental piece in trying to stop Kyler Murray’s pass/run combination. Game time is scheduled for 3:05 CST, so if there are any updates regarding Kendricks up until kickoff, PurplePTSD will have them for you.
