After a long wait, the Vikings got a late Christmas gift ahead of their Week 16 matchup with the LA Rams. Adam Thielen has officially been listed as active and is expected to play Sunday afternoon. The Vikings star wide receiver has missed all but six snaps of the past three games with an ankle injury.

Minnesota has fared well enough in those games, going 2-1, but the Vikings’ passing game has suffered in Thielen’s absence. Kirk Cousins has had two difficult games without him, including his lowest career passing total on Monday night against the Bears. He passed for just 87 yards in the 17-9 win over Chicago.

As the Vikings make one final push for the playoffs with a difficult closing schedule, the return of Adam Thielen is one that is very needed. After Dalvin Cook entered the Covid protocols, ruling him out for this game and potentially next week vs. the Packers, Thielen’s consistent production will be more crucial than ever.

In 12 games, counting his appearance against the Lions in which he played just six snaps, Thielen has recorded 10 touchdown receptions. He also has eight games with five or more receptions. It’s no question that the veteran receiver is a stabilizing presence in Minnesota’s offense, and it will be a vital part of Minnesota’s attack versus the Rams.
