Tuesday 31st August was a very busy day for many teams in the NFL as they tried to figure out the players who would remain on the roster and the ones who needed to be released. The Minnesota Vikings managed to release twenty-three players to remain with the 53 players in the new season. However, this is just the beginning. More changes will be made in the future. Veterans who have played for the Vikings for around four seasons do not have to worry about being waived by the Vikings. However, younger players are usually the ones that are subjected to waivers and being released.

The roster was released on Tuesday. However, there will likely be more changes if players submit waiver claims, trade places or go on injured reserve. The practice squad composed of 16 players will also be set.
Famous players like Ameer Abdulla, Jake Browning, Everson Griffen, Tye Smith, Andrew DePaola, and Dakota Dozier were left off the roster. They did not manage to be selected. The 2021 roster has 27 players on defense, 24 on offense, and two specialists who make up the 53-player team. However, more changes will occur because about 800 players are usually released when reducing the roster happens across the league.

Some Minnesota Viking players greatly improved in 2020. However, it seems like Osborn managed to make the most of it. He worked hard and managed to win some matches. We are still waiting to see Dede Westbrook’s performance. He has recently begun participating in team drills, and his enthusiasm for the sport can always be seen whenever he’s present. Minnesota Vikings also waived these players:
· Myles Dorn
· Zack Bailey
· Tuf Borland
· Zach Davidson
· Kyle Hinton
· Myron Mitchell
· Whop Philyor
· Kenny Willekes
· Jake Bargas
· Jake Browning
· Hercules Mata’afa
· Parry Nickerson
· Rose, Jr
· Shane Zylstra

Some players were waived with injury designations. These players include:
· Luther Kirk
· Nate Stanley
· Chad Beebe
· Dru Samia

The players who made it to the roster are as follows:

Offense (Twenty Four players)
The quarterbacks are Kellen Mond and Kirk Cousins. The running backs are Kene Nwangwu, Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. C.J. Ham is the fullback. The tight ends are Brandon Dillon, Irv Smith, and Tyler Conklin. The wide receivers are Dan Chisena, Adam Thielen, Dede Westbrook, Justin Jefferson, Osborn, and Ihmir Smith-Marsette. The offensive linemen are Garret Bradbury, Brian O’Neill, Rashod Hill, Oli Udoh, Ezra Cleveland, Blake Brandel, Wyatt Davis, Mason Cole, and Christian Darrisaw.
Defense (Twenty Seven)

In the defensive ends, there are five players. These players are Stephen Weatherly, Danielle Hunter, Patrick Jones II, D.J. Wonnum, and Jalyn Holmes. When it comes to defensive tackles, there are five players: Dalvin Tomlinson, Michael Pierce, Sheldon Richardson, James Lynch, and Armon Watts. The linebackers are Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks, Nick Vigil, Chazz Surratt, Troy Dye, Ryan Connelly, and Blake Lynch. The safeties are Xavier Woods, Harrison Smith, Camryn Bynum, and Josh Metellus. The cornerbacks are Bashaud Breeland, Patrick Peterson, Mackensie Alexander, Cameron Dantzler, Kris Boyd and Harrison Hand.

Specialists (Two)
Two specialists have made it to the roster. The Punter is Britton Colquitt, and the Kicker is Greg Joseph.
On Thursday, they added quarterback Sean Mannion to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. During the last two seasons, the quarterback has been acting as Kirk Cousins’ backup. However, he managed to appear in one game during that duration. After signing with Seattle in August, he completed thirty-three out of forty-nine passes for two hundred and twenty-eight yards with a single touchdown. He also had a passer rating reaching 84.4 in the preseason. Mannion is a product of Oregon State and had been originally drafted by the Rams.

It was a surprising move to include Dan Chisena on the Minnesota Vikings roster. However, in 2020, he really played well and managed to get a good position in last year’s roster. Brandon Dillon is a superb blocker, and he managed to make it on the roster. However, blocker Zack Davidson was not so successful. Despite not making it to the roster, he is a promising player. He is an amazing athlete and has developed natural receiving skills that can really boost the team’s performance. He was surprisingly moved to the practice squad, but he will most likely contribute in the future. Cook managed to be the only running back that was selected. Christian McCaffrey is a very good player and was worthy of the position. However, Cook is the NFL’s target machine and a fantastic runner on the field. On the other hand, Eric Kendricks managed to join Darius Leonard, who is the Colts linebacker.

Moreover, the Vikings have continued to make changes to their roster, and more cuts will probably happen in the future.
