It was a pretty solid week to root for teams in the NFC North. For the first time this season, there were no losses across the entire division. That said, only two NFC North teams actually came out of week 10 as victors. The Packers and Vikings both won, Detroit tied with Pittsburgh, and Chicago was on bye. Here’s a recap of all the goings-on across the division this week.

A Comedy of Errors in Detroit

Over the weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers found out that Ben Roethlisberger would not be able to suit up after testing positive for COVID-19. This meant Mason Rudolph would be QB1 when the Lions hosted the Steelers on Sunday. The matchup between Rudolph and Jared Goff went about as well as one would have expected; it was a sluggish, underwhelming, low-scoring affair.

Tied at 16, the two teams went to overtime and all hell broke loose. The OT period was filled with dropped passes, missed field goals, and eventually, the Steelers fumbled on the last play of the game, ending the game in a 16-16 stalemate. The Lions managed to eliminate the possibility of the first 0-17 season while also remaining winless.

Packers Defense Shines Through the Snow

There’s little in this league as iconic as Lambeau Field and the snow. Today, the duo reunited, but the game was quite a disappointment. In the returns of both Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers to the huddles for their teams, both offenses struggled throughout much of the game. This was only exacerbated for the Packers when Aaron Jones went down with what appears to be an MCL strain.

Fortunately for Green Bay, the defense stepped up, holding Seattle scoreless in a 17-0 victory. The Packers moved to 8-2, and they reclaimed the top seed in the NFC.

The Stars Were Out in LA for the Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings went into Los Angeles in need of a win to keep their season alive. At 3-5, they found themselves on the outside of the NFC playoff picture looking in. However, with losses by all three of the Buccaneers, Saints, and Falcons, they inched closer with their 27-20 victory over the Chargers.

The victory was led by big performances from all of Tyler Conklin (two receiving TDs), Dalvin Cook (118 YFS, rushing TD), Justin Jefferson (143 receiving yards), and Eric Kendricks (sack, INT). Now at 4-5 and squarely in the wild card mix, Minnesota heads back home to host the Packers in week 11.
