Folks, you really should put the effort into finding a unique fantasy football team name. The point, after all, is to have fun. Simply having “Team Last Name” is the opposite of fun, so my request is that you try to be creative. All of our lives are enriched by witty puns.

To help push people in the right direction, I’m including 10 Vikings fantasy football team names in this piece. Hopefully, these names can either be the one you choose or maybe even inspire you to come up with your own. To be clear, not all of them are original to me. I should also indicate that some of them are pulled from a piece I wrote last year over at The Vikings Gazette. Finally, readers should hop over to Josh Frey’s fantasy articles on Minnesota’s QBs, running backs, receivers, and tight ends. Readers will also benefit from Wes Johnson’s recent fantasy piece.

With all that said, the fantasy team names:

  1. Zimmer’s Angels: If you own the Vikings defense, Zimmer’s Angels might be the team name for you. It’s looking like the defense could be dominant, and the defensive line will likely be the main reason why.
  2. Dalvin and The Chipmunks: Folks, there are two Dalvins in the NFL. Minnesota has both. If he can stay healthy, Cook will likely be a top-10 overall player in both real life and fantasy football.
  3. Hooked on a Thielen: By this point, Hooked on a Thielen is a classic fantasy name. You could do a lot worse.
  4. Captain Kirk: The QB situation is certainly concerning in Minnesota, especially if our QB1 goes down for any reason.
  5. Abdullah Oblongata: Ameer Abdullah should only be drafted in really deep leagues. If you’re in one of these deep leagues and happen to choose him, then Abdullah Oblongata is a strong option (especially if you’re a fan of Adam Sandler’s The Waterboy).
  6. UnBeebelievable: By the end of the season, Chad Beebe is going to be our WR3.
  7. The Jeffersons: This one is particularly good if you have someone to partner with Justin Jefferson. LA’s Van Jefferson may work.
  8. Green Eggs and C.J. Ham: FBs never get any love in fantasy football, a reality that is unlikely to change in 2021. Maybe you can be a trendsetter by choosing Ham.
  9. Cleveland Rocks: If you happen to love Ezra Cleveland and The Drew Carey Show, then this one is for you. Just be careful; most of your league mates will probably think you started supporting the Browns.
  10. Wheelin’ and Thielen: Alright, I’ll apologize for going back to Thielen a second time. What can I say? I’m a fan. Roll with Wheelin’ and Thielen if you’re one of your league’s top traders.
  11. Big Game Hunter: If the Vikings get to the Big Game – the Super Bowl – it’ll be largely because Hunter was excellent.
  12. Danielleland Delight: If you like country music and Danielle Hunter, this could be the name for you.
  13. Winter Weatherly: The Minnesota winters can be long.
  14. Mond, Kellen Mond. Feel free to also toss in some sort of reference to 007 or something similarly appropriate for James Bond.
  15. Old Greg: If you’ve got the purple kicker, perhaps you want to reference that strange video about the character who drinks Baileys from a shoe.

Well, there you have it, folks. By no means is this an exhaustive list. There are tons of other possibilities. Depending on how this piece goes, I may publish a second one.

Best of luck with your drafts!

Editor’s Note: This post was originally published on August 26, 2021. It has been updated and republished since fantasy drafts have been happening. We’ve even included five more team name ideas.
