Jerry Rice responds to Moss’ Best WR list “You Just Got Mossed!”

As I’m sure most of you heard this week, former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss made some news this week by not only saying he was the best WR of all-time while on Terrell Owens’ podcast but by also saying that de facto GOAT Jerry Rice was “third or fourth”.

I covered that story here:

Well, that news got to Rice who posted the following on his Instagram (which he has since deleted):

As you can see, Rice clearly thinks that the numbers speak for themselves. I disagree, as I said above. Rice may be the most accomplished, but that has a lot to do with circumstance. Moss is the most talented and who anyone would choose if they were picking between the two for any team.

Rice is still great, super talented and had a crazy work ethic, but he also played with Joe Montana and Steve Young until 1999. Imagine if Moss and Tom Brady played together at both of their peaks and for over a decade.

Yet Moss still has over 150 touchdowns despite playing for far fewer years and with a cadre of quarterbacks you wouldn’t wish on the Packers.

Rice also benefited from the advent of the West Coast offense, where as Moss was just a pure force of nature who outran every coverage created to stop him. That means Rice was the beneficiary of a system while systems were created to stop Moss.

That’s what I call getting Mossed.
