In Lieu of Real Fans, Vikings to Welcome Cardboard Cutouts

While US Bank Stadium may not be hosting fans until week six of the NFL season, Vikings faithful will still have a way to make it into the stands for Minnesota’s first two home games.

Taking cues from other leagues forced to innovate new ways to fill seats during the pandemic, particularly the MLB, the Vikings announced via Twitter on Friday, September 4th, that they would be giving fans the opportunity to have their very own cardboard cutouts cheering on the team. Costing only $150 a pop, all fans have to do is don their favorite (official) purple and gold merchandise, and adhere to the following guidelines:

• Find good lighting and face it.

• Solid backgrounds will yield the best results.

• Do not raise your arms above your shoulders as they would be cropped out.

• Ensure that you take the photo in vertical (portrait) format and submit the photo in the largest possible size.

• No selfies and only one (1) person per photo.

All proceeds from the program will go towards charity organizations sponsored by the club, particularly: social justice initiatives, pandemic relief, Crucial Catch, Salute to Service, and the Minnesota Vikings Foundation.

Fans will have the option of retrieving their cutout once they are no longer needed, preserving a part of Vikings history in the progress. Even canine and feline Vikings fans can show Minnesota pride through their very own cutouts.

While no fans are being allowed for the first two Vikings home games, the stands in US Bank Stadium will at least be filled in some capacity when Minnesota plays Green Bay on September 13th, and Tennessee on September 27th.

Vikings fans will always find a way to cheer on their team, in any capacity possible!
