NFL Suspends Andrew Sendejo 1-Week for Hit on Mike Wallace

The Vikings defense is playing better than pretty much any other Vikings defense has in the past twenty or so years and the fact that they’ve been going against offenses with a ton of injuries the past couple weeks hasn’t hurt, either. The Baltimore Ravens came into Sunday’s game at US Bank stadium basically decimated at the wide receiver position and lost their best receiver relatively soon into the game after Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo absolutely decimated former Viking Mike Wallace with a hit that knocked his helmet off and gave him a concussion. That concussion ended up being the end of Wallace’s day, much to his dismay and the entertainment of those of us at home who got to watch him angrily search for his helmet on the sideline. While the play was flagged by the officials and ended up giving the Ravens a first down, Sendejo continued to play during the game.

That won’t be the case this Sunday as he was suspended by the NFL for a single game yesterday according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Vikings have some depth at the position, thankfully, and won’t need a lot of help in London as they face a Cleveland Browns team that has benched it’s rookie quarterback twice already this young season. While he’s played poorly, some of that comes from the fact that the Browns are reportedly unhappy with the way DeShone Kizer has conducted himself off of the field. It was also reported that he apparently stayed out past 1 a.m. on Friday night this past week and hasn’t shown the type of commitment at the position that quarterbacks of any age need to show in order to be good or even prepared. So, it’ll be interesting to see who the Vikings defense does face this Sunday in London and while losing Sendejo hurts (he’s extremely underrated) the rest of the defense should be just fine as they face one of the worst teams in the NFL.
