2018 – Week 3 NFL Power Rankings

I looked at some other rankings and apparently, I feel much differently about certain teams than the rest of the media. Oh well! Here is how the NFL looks in my mind this week!

  1. L.A. Rams: The Rams are proving me right every week with these dominating wins.
  2. Kansas City Chiefs: This team could give up 30 points every week and still might go undefeated because this offense looks elite.
  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jacksonville’s defense is great at neutralizing a team’s top threats, and their offense is just good enough to win a lot of games.
  4. Philadelphia Eagles: Philadelphia has been in two close games so far, but now Wentz is returning so he should breathe life into this team.
  5. Minnesota Vikings: This team would be at #2 if they had a special team’s unit, and the addition of Dan Bailey should give them just that.
  6. New England Patriots: Tom Brady now has Josh Gordon to go with Gronk, so this offense might heat up as the year progresses.
  7. Green Bay Packers: Green Bay has escaped game after game, managing to not go 0-2 to start, but this defense looks alright and that may be all Rodgers needs.
  8. Atlanta Falcons: Even with key defensive starters injured they beat a division rival, and maybe worked on that red-zone offense.
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: This is a leap from the bottom 5 to the top 10, but this team has an average defense and elite level offensive talent, but when does “Fitzmagic” end?
  10. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers have a strong defense and a special quarterback, and the team’s drafting of weapons for Cam may be paying off.
  11. Houston Texans: This team stays high because of the potential, but they could start dropping very low if Watson doesn’t win a game this week.
  12. Pittsburgh Steelers: Pittsburgh has a defense with more holes than swiss cheese, an old man at quarterback, a disgruntled wide receiver, a superstar running back who is still holding out, and a coach who appears to have lost control of his team.
  13. L.A. Chargers: The Chargers lost to maybe the best offense in the NFL week 1, and man handled the worst team in the NFL on Sunday, so it might take a while to see just how good this team is.
  14. Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals are the best team in their division right now, but they have a history of messing thing up when it matters, so time will tell whether this team is for real.
  15. New Orleans Saints: New Orleans defense may have been a one-hit-wonder, and Brees underthrew some deep passes, so this team may have been overhyped a bit.
  16. Denver Broncos: Denver is sneaky good, has a good defense, a good offense, and Keenum might do just enough to make a run for the post season.
  17. Baltimore Ravens: Baltimore got a lot of attention for their blowout victory over Buffalo, but Flacco looked average again and I don’t think this team is capable of beating really good teams.
  18. San Francisco 49ers: San Francisco barely beat a bad Lions team, and this is another team that was probably overhyped in the offseason, but Jimmy Garoppolo does look very good.
  19. Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks missed 2 INTs in the game Monday night and they should’ve won that game, but the offensive line looks horrible and Wilson can’t make plays when he constantly has to run for his life.
  20. Dallas Cowboys: Dak Prescott looks bad, Zeke looks average, the offensive line is banged up, but the defense may keep them in games that are close, and they will steal some games and be a playoff team.
  21. New York Giants: The Giants have a good defense that will keep things close, but Eli has no time to throw and when he does, he misses open guys.
  22. Tennessee Titans: Tennessee won on Sunday, but their quarterback is hurt and they can’t get a consistent running game going.
  23. Indianapolis Colts: This team has a great quarterback, but the defense isn’t very good, and the run game is nonexistent.
  24. Chicago Bears: Trubisky isn’t that good, but he has such a good surrounding cast and defense that he might win 8 games this year.
  25. Detroit Lions: This locker room doesn’t like Patricia, and Matt Stafford’s late comeback efforts aren’t going to work against great teams.
  26. New York Jets: The Jets lost but they have a promising young rookie quarterback and the defense looked good again, but they won’t turn the ball over like they did Sunday every week.
  27. Washington Redskins: Washington beat a bad Arizona team and lost to an average looking Colts team, so I see them as an “average on their best day” type team.
  28. Oakland Raiders: Oakland isn’t losing because of the Mack trade, they are losing because they have played two very good defenses and two good looking offenses, but they are still a rebuilding team who has a year or two before they threaten anyone.
  29. Cleveland Browns: Cleveland feeds of off their fan’s misery, and they just can’t win a game without the other team costing themselves the game.
  30. Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins beat a rookie quarterback and a team that handed them the ball multiple times, and the Dolphins almost lost because they were turning the ball over too.
  31. Arizona Cardinals: Arizona may take over the 32 spot soon, they look terrible and might want to experiment with Rosen soon.
  32. Buffalo Bills: The Bills look terrible all over, and they can’t even keep their players in the league longer than two quarters.
