Vikings Targeting Top FA Wide Receiver… Almost Had Alshon Jeffery

While now former Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery just announced that he signed a one year, $14 million dollar deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, apparently the Vikings made a last minute move in an attempt to acquire the highly talented receiver by offering more money and more security, however, for reasons that are still unclear but agonizing nonetheless… WHY!?!?

As I stated in my article earlier this week about Adam Thielen and the second-round tender the Vikings were expected to place on him, the Vikings do really need a large bodied/fast/down the field wide receiver. Apparently, they agreed and attempted to make a move to acquire Alshon Jeffery, who is one of the better wide receivers in the league (When he is healthy). Apparently the Vikings offered more money and more security for Jeffery, who for some reason decided for less money and less security with the Eagles…

That one stings. I would’ve been completely over the moon had we snagged a receiver of Jeffery’s quality. Placing him next to either Stefon Diggs or Adam Thielen would’ve been amazing and hard to cover for opposing defenses. So, stayed tuned for more information. Ugh, this just put me in a really bad mood.

So the question is, who’s left? With Brandon Marshall officially joining the NY Giants, it’s looking like the last available big name receiver (That I’m at least interested in) is Terrelle Pryor. Pryor, who is new-ish to the receiver position may end up costing a lot less than Jeffery would’ve (Considering he got a one-year, $14m deal from Philadelphia), so this could end up with a silver lining after all, especially considering Jeffery’s propensity for injury. From the last I can tell, Pryor is meeting with the Washington Red Skins today, so hopefully he’ll still be available later tonight. Considering the Vikings were rejected by Jeffery only about an hour ago, things are still very fluid. Stay tuned for updates through the night!
