Earlier today, a video circulated of Everson Griffen with a gun inside his home. He has previously struggled with mental health issues. The Vikings released a statement:

Vikings representatives and the team’s mental health professionals have been on-site at Everson Griffen’s home since early this morning and are cooperating with law enforcement. Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson and his family. We will have further comment at the appropriate time.

Griffen’s safety and the safety of his family are of the utmost importance. Football is completely secondary. Unfortunately, the team still seems uncertain about his safety:

We’ll do our best to update readers as more details emerge.

According to ESPN‘s Courtney Cronin, Griffen has locked himself in his home: “EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings and the Minnetrista Police Department are dealing with an ongoing situation involving defensive end Everson Griffen, who has refused to come out of his residence after making a series of disturbing posts on Instagram earlier Wednesday morning claiming that someone was in his home trying to kill him.”

Pro Football Talk summarizes the police statement: “In a statement, via Lou Raguse of KARE, the department says it responded, along with other local law enforcement agencies, to a 911 call that Griffen made early on Wednesday. Griffen told dispatchers that he needed help because there was an intruder inside his house. He also said that he had fired a gun and that no one was injured.”
