Vikings Day 2 Draft Recap

The purplePTSD.com/VikingsTerritory.com/purpleTERRITORYradio.com family had its second annual Day2Draft Party at Legends Golf Course in Prior Lake last night with an amazing silent auction of some of the coolest Vikings memorabilia ever (A signed old school helmet by Randy Moss, a Purple People Eaters Jersey with the numbers and autographs of the Vikes front four from those days and like 20 more things). Because of that a lot of us were out drinking some Gray Duck vodka cocktails and eating some delicious buffalo wings together. Much to the chagrin of the staff at Legends, Spielman and company kept trading down, at almost a comical level, so we were there LATE and… Long story medium, we weren’t able to get this profile up until this morning!

Vikings Select Alabama TE Irv Smith

Catching up after a fun evening at Legends GC in Prior Lake…

After addressing offensive line with their round one selection, the Minnesota Vikings on Friday landed their tight end of the future in the 2019 NFL Draft. Former University of Alabama tight end Irv Smith, Jr. was selected by Minnesota with the 50th overall pick (#18) in the second round.

Smith (6-2, 242) caught 44 passes for 710 yards and seven touchdowns last seasons. His seven touchdowns broke the Alabama single-season team record for a tight end.

Vikings Select Boise State RB Alexander Mattison

After four trade-downs in the third round, the Vikings finally stayed put and selected a player with the 102nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. With the last pick in round three, the Vikings selected former Boise State running back Alexander Mattison.

Mattison (5-11, 221) had 302 rushes for 1,415 yards with 17 touchdowns last season, ranking him in the top-10 nationally in each category. On top of his 4.7 yards per carry average, he also hauled in 27 passes for 173 yards.
