Week 1, predictably enough, is going to involve Minnesota playing at U.S. Bank Stadium. The opponent? None other than the NFC North champion Green Bay Packers.

There are a ton of storylines heading into this game. The Vikings, of course, have almost an entirely new leadership structure in place. How will Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell do in their first game against their Wisconsin rival?

Minnesota, moreover, has plenty of Green Bay influence on their team. Mike Pettine used to be the DC in GB; he’s now the assistant head coach in MN. Za’Darius Smith will be looking to defeat David Bakhtiari’s blocking to be able to take down Aaron Rodgers. Chandon Sullivan will be looking to stifle whichever receiver has the tall task of replacing Davante Adams. We’ll see Christian Watson in his first ever NFL game, a receiver who was chosen 34th overall after the Vikings decided to do business with their NFC North rival.

I’m only scratcthing the surface. There will be stories aplenty leading up to this game. The NFL has responded by putting the game in the more prominent late-afternoon time slot.

In a couple hours, we’ll learn about the rest of the Minnesota Vikings schedule. So far, we know it’s GB in Week 1 at home. From there, it’ll a MNF game against Philly in Week 2 and then a London date with the Saints in Week 4. There has also been chatter about facing the Patriots in Minnesota on Thanksgiving. It’s also looking like Dallas at home the week before.

Stay tuned, folks. We’ll keep you updated.
