When folks haven’t been praising Kirk Cousins, they’ve been praising our sophomore receiver. No, not Mr. Jefferson, the other sophomore receiver (the one who didn’t contribute on offense at all during his rookie season). KJ Osborn sealed the win for the Vikings yesterday, leading him to pay tribute to Stefon Diggs in the process. He did so by tossing his helmet after the TD.

Pro Football Talk provided an interview with Osborn. Apparently, the plan was to throw the helmet if he scored the walk-off TD: “Me and [Stefon] Diggs are good friends. We train together in the offseason. When I came to Minnesota, I watched that a bunch of times. Just being a ball player, you know having fun. If I score, I’m gonna walk this thing, I’m gonna toss my helmet. I was able to get in there, so I just went on with it. That’s definitely — he inspired me by that a little bit, so I got to talk to him.”

Osborn also expressed thanks for Kirk trusting him: “To come up clutch in these late games and, you know, Kirk trusts me. That means everything to me. I just try to go out there and do my job and continue to create the truth between me and him. It means everything to me. It’s awesome.”

For good reason, Cousins trusted Osborn. Take a peak at the touchdown. It was a good catch and score by Osborn:

Osborn is arguably our best WR3 in five + years. He has 311 receiving yards for the year. That’s on a run-first team that features Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson as the top two receiving options. In other words, Osborn has been very productive, given his role. He has very rightly gotten praise throughout the year, and he’ll need to continue showing that he’s a strong WR3 as we move forward.

Following the bye, Minnesota faces a tough task as they take on the Cowboys before playing the Ravens. To beat these teams, we’ll need more than just our stars to play well. Hopefully, KJ Osborn can do another Stefon Diggs impression.
