Here Are Some People Who Are Way Too Mad About Mitch Leidner

On Sunday, the Vikings signed Mitch Leidner and released Darnell Sankey, presumably to help fill out practice drills while Taylor Heinicke sat on the sideline.

But before that news could drop, the Vikings’ announcement posts were flooded with endless vitriol and hatred. With no regard for Leidner’s slim roster chances or the relative costlessness of such a signing, people were ready to bust out the torches and pitchforks:

Some folks were very much ready to feed Rick Spielman to the dogs:

I’d bet some of these folks truly believe he’ll play on the team, replacing all four of the other quarterbacks (yes, that includes Teddy). In reality, Mitch Leidner is probably just here to be an arm for 3rd team drills while Heinicke works through whatever is keeping him on the sideline. Theoretically, it puts a floor on Heinicke’s performance – outplay Mitch Leidner, or you’re out. Either way, Leidner’s failure with the Gophers is not a justification for this outpouring of anger. Be better, Vikings fans.
