Frey’s Fantasy Focus: Week 10 Waiver Wire

Alright, ya’ll. For many of us, unless you messed with the season settings, we’re officially into the countdown towards the playoffs. Just five weeks remain in the fantasy football regular season. With that in mind, here are a few players to pick up off the waiver wire to sub in for your players on bye.

Mark Ingram- Ravens RB (47.5%)

Keep an eye on the Ravens’ injury report this week. Should Ingram be ready to go, he gets a pretty favorable matchup with the New England Patriots that almost just lost to the Jets. The Ravens offense has been floundering since Ingram’s injury, and I do believe that the injury is a key part to the struggles. Because of that, should he play, Ingram might be set up for a large number of touches on Sunday.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling- Packers WR (10.9%)

The Jaguars have not been able to stop anyone all season, and I think that trend continues this week against the Packers. While Valdes-Scantling has been off-and-on all season, he had a great week in a Green Bay revenge game versus San Francisco.

The knock on him has been his inability to reel in deep balls, but last week, he caught two of them for 52 yards. Both were touchdowns as well. In a matchup with the Jacksonville secondary that has given up the highest net yards per pass attempt, deep passes should find their way to Valdes-Scantling once again.

Richie James- 49ers WR (8.8%)

Richie James is just the latest player to come off the San Francisco bench and become a productive member of the offense. Last week against Green Bay, James caught nine passes for 184 yards and a touchdown.

With Brandon Aiyuk set to return this week, James might not get as many passes thrown his way this week. However, against a bad Saints defense, he should put up numbers.

Derek Carr- Raiders QB (47.9%)

Calling all Patrick Mahomes and Matt Ryan fantasy owners. Pick up Derek Carr this week if you still need a quarterback. He has been one of the most consistent players this season.

He’s thrown a touchdown pass in every game he’s played and never dropped into single digits in fantasy points. He’s only scored fewer than 14 once. He also gets a good matchup with a Denver defense that has given up 30 or more points in three consecutive weeks.

Giants D/ST (37.7%)

The Giants defense has quietly been one of the most consistent groups this season. In the last five games, they’ve forced 11 turnovers, and they have multiple sacks in each game.

These numbers alone make for a good fantasy output, but they’ve also given up fewer than 25 points in three of the last four weeks. With a matchup against Philly, and Carson Wentz’s tendency to throw errant passes under pressure, the Giants are a viable fantasy option this week. Honestly, they’re worthy of a starting spot most weeks.
