Vikings top Ravens 24-16, Are Alone Atop NFC North Standings

Joe Flacco has 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in his career against the Vikings.

Sunday showcased another Case Keenum start that wasn’t always pretty but proved to be more than enough for a Vikings team that boasts the leagues best defense. Granted, it wasn’t hard to shut down yet another’s opponent that was decimated by injury, but that’s what good teams do and this Vikings team is quickly showing it is one of the better teams in the NFL. Outside of a garbage time touchdown by the Ravens, the Vikings defense gave up only field goals and shut down the Ravens run game.

With a Green Bay losing and Detroit a game back and on their Bye Week, the Vikings now have a firm hold on first place in the NFC North. That should hold through the Vikings Bye, which comes a week after next Sunday’s game in London against the Browns. A report this weekend did say that Aaron Rodgers could return this season but after his replacement threw for under 90 yards against the Saints, hopefully there’ll be no reason for him to in a week or two.

Today’s game was ugly and showed a lot of room for improvement offensively. But the defense is so good that it should give the offense every chance not only to win but to also start out slow and still win. Stay tuned for more in depth coverage but today was a great validation that this team is the real deal, I personally cannot wait for the offense to get some players back so it can show the league that it’s also a threat.
