Ballin!

With Training Camp (finally) underway, the Vikings are apparently getting all of their ducks in a row before the 2017 season begins, in an attempt to limit any distractions as they push for a playoff berth for the first time since 2015. Griffen, who has been vastly underrated when people talk about both MVP’s on this Vikings defense, and as an elite pass rushing defensive end, will make $34 million guaranteed over four seasons and will be under contract until the 2022 season.

A fourth round pick out of USC, Griffen has been the lynchpin of the post-Jared Allen Vikings defensive line and is still in the prime of his career. At 29 years old, he will be in his mid-thirties when this contract is over and thus, as he stated on Twitter, he’ll be a “Viking for life”. Described as a “physical freak that comes along once in a blue moon”, the fact that the Vikings believed enough in him to sign him to such a large extension means that they know they’re set at the position for the foreseeable future. With Danielle Hunter emerging on the other side of the line, the Vikings may have the best 1-2 punch at defensive end in the league and considering the QB’s they go up against in the NFC North each year, they’ll need them!
