The Best All Time Vikings QB is Who?

If I told you that the best all time Viking QB was Kirk Cousins would you believe it?

I’m not saying he is, but there is a ring of truth to it. The guy with the best all time Vikings QB rating is Cousins at 103.0. The next up is Sam Bradford at 101.1.

Unfortunately for Bradford his health allowed him on the field for only 17 games and Cousins has almost doubled that. Randall Cunningham and Daunte Culpepper have ratings of 94.2 and 91.5 respectively in 27 and 81 games. Brett Favre in 29 games had 92.2 and  Fran Tarkenton had an 80.1 QB rating over 177 games. Bridgewater had 86.3 over 30 games.

Most of us know that the QB rating isn’t the only factor when it comes to assessing QBs.

So what do the other QB numbers look like?

In looking at their Viking completion percentage, Sam Bradford is at 71.8, Cousins is next at 69.7, Favre at 65.2, Bridgewater 64.7, Culpepper 64.4, Brad Johnson 62.0, Warren Moon 60.7, Cunningham 59.9 and Tarkenton 57.7.

Touchdown percentage: Cunningham 6.7, Cousins and Joe Kapp tie at 5.3 each, Tarkenton and Culpepper tie at 5.2 each.

Interception percentage: Bradford at .08, Cousins at 1.5, Bridgewater 2.6, and Warren Moon and Brad Johnson tie at 2.9.

Passing yards per game: Moon 259, Cousins 254.9, Bradford 250.5, Culpepper 248.9, Favre 231.4, Cunningham 210.4, and Bridgewater 205.0.

Kirk Cousins has the highest QB rating and comes in second in the four other categories. In looking at these numbers you’d have to say if he isn’t the best, at least Cousins is one of the best Viking QBs of all time.
