SeanMacG asked a question in another thread:
I’m all for drafting a QB in second round if one with the requisite skills falls that far. But more likely 3rd? We have so many other needs this year… what is everyone’s thought on 1st round? Guard? CB? 3 tech?
What do you guys think?
Left tackle in the first? 3 tech tackle in the second?
Or since it’s Zimmer… CB, S, CB, CB, CB, CB, G, CB

Realistically, I think they’ll go defensive back or defensive tackle, but I would like to see them snag some offensive weapons. This is supposed to be the best draft for receivers in recent memory. Could also see them grabbing a starting caliber LT if one falls.

Yeah. That’s what sucks about being kinda good. You play an extra week or two, and end up waaaay down the draft order which, considering the needs this team will have and how badly they need to nail this draft (since free agency isn’t looking like an option as of right now), kinda sucks.
But they need an LT. I really hope they don’t move O’Neill but they might, and then they can find a RT in the top three rounds…

I think they could find a LT in round one and then restructure Reiff to hold down the fort until the new guy is ready. Then you have a quality backup as well and you can let Aviante Collins walk because he is not a very good player.

I’m with Kirby.Lets get that LT! Our 1st round cb’s always seem to take a year or two to come around so why not wait till second round and get a development prospect. Unless that “unicorn” qb falls that low.
Or … you know… CB,Safety,CB, trade 4th rounder for 2 sixth rounder and a sandwich…

Sandwiches have a big pull in this league. For real though, I think taking a couple years to let a defensive back develop is the Zimmer way, which doesn’t bode well for the current roster situation. I’m not opposed to taking defensive backs high, but it’s gotta be a game changing talent, like a Harrison Smith, and I don’t know if this draft has that kind of guy.
