While they (and by they I mean Sean Payton) have denied that Sunday’s game in Minneapolis is some sort of revenge game or that the Saints have some sort of chip on their shoulder, but you have to think that behind closed doors those dirtbags are talking about this game differently, that they’ve had it circled on their schedule since the schedules were announced and that they’re going to come out firing on Sunday.
While that scares me a bit, because we’ve all seen what a Sean Payton lead Saints team can do to the Vikings when fired up and when they feel like everything is on the line… In terms of player injury, not so much points. But, I also am wary of this offense against a Vikings defense that is depleted nearly everywhere but especially at the corner position…
Barr has been playing well, “Vintage Barr” I said on Morning Joes this morning, and he’s really hard to replace especially this week with Kamara being so dangerous. Throw in the pass rush stuff he’d been doing and you have to hope he’ll make it. Xavier is nearly impossible to replace, too, but Trae had a great game against the Jets (a rookie QB, though) and perhaps he and Holton Hill can make it work?
I don’t know, but, unless Rhodes, Barr and Linval play, this fired up Saints team might be hard to beat. I really, REALLY want to win this game and it’d mean a lot if they did in terms of showing the rest of the league that this team, sure, struggled a bit at the beginning of the season but they’re on track and have an offense that’s as good as this resurgent defense and when they’re all healthy and have all their players back, including Dalvin Cook, which means… Look out!
I’m just rambling as this game makes me incredibly anxious. What do you guys think in terms of score? Other predictions (who might play and who might not?)?

I think your concerns are valid. We could ill afford to lose Rhodes and Barr, especially after losing Hughes the week before. This is going to be a tough game for the Vikings no matter which way you slice it. It might come down to a shootout though as the Saints defense hasn’t been anything to boast about really and Captain Kirk has been having a good year. True the Saints pass rush has been tough, but the rest of the defense not so much.
One thing the Vikings might have in their favor is the fact that the Saints are coming off such a mentally draining game against the Ravens. We saw what happened to us against Buffalo when we came off a mentally draining game against the Packers. Don’t think we’ll blow the Saints out, but the hangover from that mental drain might be the chink in the Saints armor this upcoming week…
I would wager we will see lots of 2 TE sets and of Murray and Ham in the backfield helping to protect Cousins though…

I believe the Saints will try to bring their A-Game ~ A win against even a beat up Vikings team is still big in their eyes ~ JMHO ~ And that’s OK just as long as the Vikings are healthy for the playoffs ~ That’s when it counts ~ That being said it would be great to pull off an upset Sunday Night ~ I say upset because of so many players set to miss this game
