I’ve been as hard on Cousins as probably anyone across social media last season, and at the start of this season, I’ll freely admit I’ve said some rather unflattering things about him. But I’ll also be man enough to admit when I’m wrong. Since the Bears game Cousins has been playing like one of the top QBs in the NFL. He has raised his game to a level I quite frankly didn’t think he was capable of reaching. He put the team on his back yesterday and carried the Vikings to a improbable historic comeback. Yesterday he earned the money so many of us fans have been saying he wasn’t worth. And for that I wholeheartedly say “I’m Sorry Kirk, keep doing what you’ve been doing, and stay the course”.
NOW….Xavier Rhodes is done, he looks like a lost URFA on the field. I suspect we’re seeing his last season in Minnesota. Does anyone happen to know the cap hit, or dead money, the team will take for outright releasing him ? I seriously doubt a trade is even possible at this point.
Thank you for reading my rant, and as always….SKOL !!!!
It took Kirk longer than a few games to create the concern that he couldn’t win the big games, it’s going to take a few more games than this to convince me he’s a winner. I’m not talking about stats. He had good stats last year, but seemed to shrink when the pressure was on. I need to see some leadership and great play in big games. Yesterday was definitely something he’s never shown me before. It’s a great start. I’m just not ready to forget the past and say he’s now our guy quite yet.
But, kudos, yes.
Good to see people coming around!
I did jump off the bandwagon after the Packers/Bears debacles, but my Dad (who is about as big of a Big 10 fan as you can find) told me to wait, as COusins played best when backed into a corner. It seemed counterintutive to me because he was seemingly wilting under pressure (both on and off the field, as in the pass rush and mental pressure), but he was right.
Now if we could fix Rhodes… Sigh.
