Robison will hopefully be limited to only 25% to 35% of defensive snaps, and those at DE, as he seems to have faltered as a rotational inside pass rusher.
I’ve argued with a very smart and knowledgeable fan going by the user name of Krauser over at The Daily Norseman about the likelihood of Parry making the team, and he has pretty much convinced me that there are not a lot of 1-Tech, nose tackle, run-stuffing snaps to be had in this defense beyond the 60+ percent of defensive snaps that Linval Joseph gets. Therefore, it is more likely that the Vikings will keep Jaleel Johnson for those very few snaps, as well as the ones he will get backing up Richardson at 3-tech, and roster another 3-tech under tackle like the team is apparently trying to convert Holmes into. Parry’s best shot to make the final roster may be in the unfortunate and unlikely even that his hand injury forced Holmes onto injured reserve.
Weatherly sound like a very interesting guy, but has he done enough to hold off the trio of athletic guys nipping at his heels in Bower, Odenigbo and Aruna? The latter two could see themselves on the PS, but the team seems to think that Bower could be snatched off of the practice squad, so he might be the biggest threat to Weatherly’s roster spot. I’d love to hold onto a couple of these guys on the PS, at least, just to have them here in 2019 to compete for Robison’s roster spot.
As for Parry, I’m in the same boat. Run stuffers aren’t even needed for all the snaps, so two players will be fine. As for Weatherly, that’s the single camp question I’m most interested to find out!
You might be pretty darn unique if Weatherly is your camp question of most interest. I think most fans are looking at WR3, slot CB, the right side of the OL and the annual Marcus Sherels’ roster watch over the question of who’ll get rostered as the DE4 and DE5.
