Week 5 ATS (Against the Spread) and Over Under Picks

Last week was a something of a strange one in what is shaping up to be a very interesting season in the NFL. At the end of it all, we still had 6 teams left unbeaten, although that number would have been one smaller had the game between the Tennessee Titans the Pittsburgh Steelers not been postponed. That game will be played later in the season, a decision that is not sitting well with many within the Steelers organization. For now, though, it is time to focus on the games coming this weekend, with Week 5 set to begin on Thursday night with Tom Brady and the Buccaneers taking on the Chicago Bears. We have picked out 3 games that we like against the spread, as well as 3 for O/U selections. Without further ado, let get right into action so you can place your bets against their NFL odds.

Week 5 ATS Picks for the 2020 Season | NFL Betting

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4) at Chicago Bears

As we mentioned earlier, Week 5 begin with a Thursday night game between the Bucs and the Bears, with both teams currently sitting at 3-1. You do have to say, though, that the Buccaneers have looked the more convincing of the two, reeling off 2-straight wins after losing their season opener versus the Saints. The Bears, meanwhile, took their first L of the season last weekend and are a team with a bit of a QB situation going on. Nick Foles will likely remain the starter, at least for now. Both teams are 2-2 ATS through the first 4 weeks of the season, but it is worth noting that the Buccaneers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games played on the road. I think they improve on that mark on Thursday night.

Arizona Cardinals (-7) at New York Jets

After a solid start that saw them win their opening 2 games and have people talking about a potential division crown, the Cardinals have now lost back to back games. Worst of all, those losses came versus teams – Lions and Panthers – that the Cards were favored to beat. This is another one of those types of games, as they will be on the road to face a winless Jets team that look as bad as their record suggests. While the Cardinals are 2-2 ATS through the opening 4 weeks, the Jets have yet to cover the spread. That would seem to make this one a bit of a no-brainer. In games played in the month of October, the Cardinals are now 5-2 ATS in their last 7.

Denver Broncos (+11) at New England Patriots

This is one that I am putting on the list for now, but it is also one that you might want to pay attention to as we get closer to the weekend. There is very little info on the status of Cam Newton ahead of this one, but from what we have heard, it seems unlikely that he will get the nod for this one. The Broncos are battered and bruised, but they should still be on a bit of a high after getting a win over the New York Jets last weekend. Denver have actually been a very decent spread bet of late, going 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games. On the flipside, the Patriots are 2-4 ATS in their last 6. They have covered in their last 5 at home versus the Broncos, but circumstances might just change that trend.

Week 5 O/U Picks for the 2020 Season | NFL Betting

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (OVER 51)

It’s not quite time to break out the champagne in Cincinnati just yet, but the Bengals are now on a 2-game unbeaten streak after a tie and a victory in their last 2 games. They do, though, look to have their franchise QB in place, as Joe Burrow has looked fantastic through the opening 4 weeks of his life in the NFL. It is still going to be a big job to build around him, but things are looking better for the Bengals. Those happy times may come to an end this weekend, though, as they will be on the road to face the high-flying Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals have seen the OVER hit in 6 of their last 8 games,  and while it has been the UNDER that has been trending with the Ravens, I think we see this one sneak OVER the point total.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (OVER 54)

There is still a lot of football to be played, but as it stands at the moment, the NFC East is far and away the worst division in football. After the first 4 weeks of the season, the 4 teams in the East are looking at a combined record of 3-12-1. Keep in mind that one of these teams will make it to the postseason, but who will it be. You still feel as though the Dallas Cowboys can come good, but they will need to find a way to bet better on the defensive side of the football. The Cowboys have been in shootout games all season long, and while the Giants offense is maybe not good enough to get sucked into that, I still think we see this one go OVER.

Indianapolis Colts at Cleveland Browns (OVER 47)

Both of these teams will come into this game on 3-game winning streaks, so something has to give this weekend. We are not looking at win and losses with these two, though, as this is all about the point total. After a poor showing in Week 1, the Browns offense is beginning to click, which is why they have seen each of their last 3 games go OVER the point total. The Colts, on the other hand, have been trending towards the UNDER, but that switches when they play conference opponents, with 4 of their last 6 in those matchups going OVER.
