The Vikings are entering a rather important year that will decide the direction of the franchise in 2024 and beyond. After moving on from multiple veteran starters such as Dalvin Cook, Eric Kendricks, Patrick Peterson, Za’Darius Smith, Adam Thielen, and Dalvin Tomlinson, they are largely relying on their young draft picks and new free agent signings to fill the holes in their starting lineup.

A number of position battles are set to take place this summer including battles at defensive line, free safety, linebacker, running back, and wide receiver. Here’s a look at the 2023 Draft class again as well to give some idea of the new young Vikings competing for jobs at these spots:

  • WR Jordan Addison
  • CB Mekhi Blackmon
  • DB Jay Ward
  • DL Jaquelin Roy
  • QB Jaren Hall
  • RB DeWayne McBride

In all, this should be a very interesting training camp period to see how the Vikings final 53-man roster shakes out. Five days after the final practice with the Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota will trim 37 players off their roster, moving from 90 to 53.

It should also be noted that the joint practices with both the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals will precede preseason games against the two franchises. The game against the Titans is scheduled for August 19th at 7 PM Central while the Cardinals game will take place on August 26th at 12 PM Central.

Training camp begins in 36 days.
