Today is The Day, Folks

At last, we arrive at the long-awaited beginning of training camp. The Vikings’ rookies arrive today to kick things off. In a couple days, the rest of the team will join the young guys.

In one sense, it feels like a long time coming. At times, the summer dragged on as the excitement from free agency and the draft wore off. Nevertheless, it’s also hard to believe that training camp is already here. Perhaps it’s merely the time warp many of us having been living in since Covid began impacting things, but the summer seems to be slipping away. Regardless of your perception of time – I’m not trying to get too philosophical – the basic fact is that real football is getting very close.

Fans, of course, are most intrigued by the high draft picks, most notably Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth Jr. Neither is assured of anything heading into camp. Both will need to show they’re better than older, returning players in order to snag a starting spot. There has also been some optimism about Esezi Otomewo, Brian Asamoah, and Ty Chandler. I, for one, am looking forward to what the speedy LB can do in the Donatell defense.

As training camp gets going, feel free to keep swinging by Purple PTSD. We’ll be doing our utmost to ensure readers are getting timely, entertaining, and informative pieces covering the Minnesota Vikings.
