Power Rankings: It’s official we’re a top 10 team!? [Vikings.com]

The Vikings remained undefeated at home (3-0) with a 16-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Minnesota’s defense has allowed 20 or less points in four of the five games this season. The Vikings prepare to hit the road to take on the Detroit Lions for the second time this year. The first contest ended in a 26-16 victory at home. We’ll take a look at the NFL power rankings lists to see where the experts rank Minnesota during Week 7.

The Vikings have won three of four, but all three of the wins have come at home. That makes this week’s game at Detroit interesting. If they’re a real playoff contender (as I think they are), that’s a road game you must win. No more of the strange “Week 1 at San Francisco” performances.

Congrats to the Vikings on the win. And specific kudos go to the defense, which has been the stalwart foundation of this team. Meanwhile, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been up and down — at best. He missed a rollout throw on third-and-1 late in the fourth quarter that could have helped the Vikes salt away the clock. It’s little plays like that, hidden from the box score, that are oh so important. We’re still waiting to see the Bridgewater who completed more than 80 percent of his passes in the preseason. That said, this club is 3-2 without that brand of Bridgewater. Who says Minnesota lands a wild-card spot?

An encouraging sign for the Vikings: They won Sunday despite getting just 60 rushing yards fromAdrian Peterson, his fewest in a Vikings win since 2011.

Time to expand that passing arsenal — maybe use Kyle Rudolph? — or Adrian Peterson will keep running into brick walls.

You might be scrolling through your fantasy waiver wire as money signs pop up, and you’ll say aloud to no one, “Hey, who’s this Stefon Diggs guy?”

He’s a fifth-round pick in 2015 who’s quickly losing his anonymous status. The Minnesota Vikings receiver was given a larger role Sunday with fellow wideout Charles Johnson injured, and he churned out 129 yards on seven receptions during a win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

After two game appearances he’s averaging 18.6 yards per catch as another speed option for coordinator Norv Tunrer to play with in his vertical-based offense.

They are 3-2 and they really haven’t done a lot on offense. They have to get that side of the ball going.

Adrian Peterson has 13 carries within 10 yards of the goal line, tied for the most in the league. However, he’s managed just one touchdown and has -6 total yards on such plays.
