Dak Prescott Officially Ruled OUT Sunday Night vs. Vikings

Allen Hurns (17) stands next to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4)

The Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings are about an hour away from kickoff on a huge Halloween Sunday Night matchup, but it seems the star-studded rosters will be just a bit less studded tonight. Dak Prescott, who has been suffering from a calf injury this week, will not play tonight against the Vikings. He was seen attempting to warm up on the field, but it has officially been announced that the franchise QB is out for the game.

This is obviously a huge deal as Prescott was one of the front runners for the MVP award this season. Through six games Prescott has thrown for 1813 yards, 16 TDs, and 4 INTs while completing his passes at a 73.1% clip. These stats are all on pace for career highs at a 16-game pace, but of course, that is not what is on the minds of the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. The Cowboys are clear leaders in the NFC East, but their eyes are set on a berth for the number one seed in the NFC and a wild card round bye in the playoffs. Prescott indicated that if this was a playoff game he would “100%” be playing.

With Prescott out Dallas (5-1) will instead start Cooper Rush with Will Grier as his backup. Rush will make his first career start and has only attempted three passes in his four-year career. All three came in 2017 as he went 1/3 for two yards. As for Minnesota, they will be without DT Michael Pierce for the third consecutive game, and they will also miss WR Dede Westbrook as they attempt to improve their record to 4-3 and maintain second place in the NFC North.
