Packers RB Pours Some Gasoline on Rivalry Fire

Some Vikings fans will be pissed off about this one, but I don’t see it as reason to get upset. In many ways, Aaron Jones is right. What has Minnesota accomplished in recent years? Answer: very little. Offseason hype has been much ado about nothing for our friends in purple. Hopefully, that reality changes, but until that happens we’ll need to suffer through the occasional joke or two.

Take a peak at what Aaron Jones had to say about his purple rival and their fans:

The words that will cause a bit of a kerfuffle arrive toward the end. Aaron Jones notes that Vikings fans “don’t get to celebrate a lot” before offering up a mock apology.

Since coming into the NFL, Jones’ Packers have had far more success than the Vikings. Until our friends in purple show themselves to be the superior team, Jones will have those bragging rights. Moreover, he really has had a nice NFL career so far.

What I will say, though, is that pride goes before the fall (as the wise author of Proverbs tells us). If the Vikings pull off the upset this season – winning the division and perhaps even more – then Jones will likely hear from Vikings fans far and wide.

As we’ve seen countless times, the purple faithful can be tempted by the sweet siren song of NFL pettiness.

So, my suggestion is that Vikings fans take this one on the chin. Aaron Jones has enjoyed far more team success in recent years. Perhaps Minnesota will surprise us all, snagging the division and giving Vikings fans something to be proud about.

If that occurs, heed my advice: don’t make it personal with Jones. Instead, just keep it PG as you boast about the team’s success rather than participate in the online vitriol that often characterizes these matters.
