Don’t Be Surprised if the Vikings Trade Again

After waiting around three hours for the Minnesota Vikings to make their first selection of the 2022 NFL Draft, fans won’t have to wait nearly as long for the team to be back on clock Friday night. Or won’t they? Taking a look at some of the names that remain available going into the second round of the draft, there is a ton of talent left on the board. We’re talking nearly a dozen first-round-caliber players

Because of the number of big names that remain available, and my continual obsession with Day Two of this draft (someone help me), I don’t think it is all that crazy to think the Vikings could trade down once again from No. 34.

There could be teams looking to move up as well, especially now that we have gotten through the first round with only one QB off the board. Round two should be the place where guys like Malik Willis, Desmond Ridder, and Matt Corral start flying off the board. A trade with the Vikings by, say, the Atlanta Falcons, could be the catalyst that begins a run of QBs being selected.

I’ve said it multiple times, but if I were a GM of an NFL football team in the Year of our Lord 2022, I would be looking to acquire as many picks in rounds two and three of this draft as I possibly could. If the Vikings accomplished a trade tonight, they will end up with at least four picks in these selections with multiple starting-caliber players on the board.

I’ve predicted a Day Two trade will happen in the Vikings war room, and I’m standing by it. As for their first selection of this Friday draft, I would keep WR Skyy Moore in mind. He is a terrific fit in this Vikings offense as a slot receiver.

Day Two of the NFL Draft begins at 7 PM EST.
