Delving into the Adam Thielen trade rumors

Browns trying to trade for Thielen?

Apparently the theme of the day is all the salt needed to swallow Twitter related “stories”.

A lot of what I cover comes from the fans of the Minnesota Vikings, the narratives and rumors that fly around Vikings social media channels, etc. Typically that makes us look on top of things, but sometimes people see headlines and get angry because you’re essentially playing with fire when you’re posting about what at the end of the day could be complete nonsense.

But thems the ropes, especially when you don’t want to hit f5 on PFF to think of some new algorithm to quantify the pain the Vikings have caused us all.

Enter Sir Yacht of Twitter, who has a decent following and apparently Tweets about the Cleveland Browns all day (in between releasing music)? Well, that’s already a bit disconcerting in terms of the red flag department.

He first Tweeted that the Browns were “talking ABOUT” trading for none other than Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen. Someone tagged local sports insider Darren Wolfson who rightfully responded:

Twitter news as seen here in the wild

Mr. Yacht then added some context to his scoop:

A Browns fan then reminded the world that the team would have a tremendous amount of cap space tied up in receivers next season, which could kill this potential trade before it starts.

Then again, the Browns could be just talking about the idea. Or, this could be complete nonsense from someone on Twitter trying to promote what I’m sure is the type of music they play at CIA black sites to get information from hardened operatives after all else has failed.

Some in Minnesota seem… Open to trading Thielen?

One move that seems to be what would be the final straw for most Vikings fans, you’d think, would be trading native son Thielen. From most of the comments I’d seen on the purplePTSD Facebook page, that’s mostly the truth.

But over on Vikings Twitter, there are those that seem open to moving on from Thielen as part of a complete teardown of this Vikings team.

Our friends over at MSPAthletics posted this today, and while they did receive some pushback, they also received a lot of support.

While most responded strongly that they wouldn’t be okay with the above scenario when I reTweeted whether they’d trade Thielen for a first (or if that first guaranteed that they’d draft Gophers standout receiver Rashod Bateman), some said that they’d do it to get younger, save cap space and, while I’m presuming this last part, to simply watch the world burn.

How do I feel? This Tweet in response to that question sums this all up nicely.

Does/would this move make sense for the Vikings?

No.
