Dalvin Cook Officially Out vs Seahawks

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook (33) breaks a tackle by Arizona Cardinals cornerback Marco Wilson (20) during the first quarter in Glendale, Ariz. Sept. 19, 2021. Cardinals Vs Vikings

It seemed inevitable after the Minnesota Vikings star running back missed all of practice this week, but Dalvin Cook is officially out for this afternoon’s home matchup with Seattle. Cook suffered an ankle injury during the Vikings loss in Arizona, and while he played through it for much of that game, Minnesota is opting to have him rest up this weekend.

Head coach Mike Zimmer left some chance for Cook to play after Friday’s practice, but in his stead, it seems Alexander Mattison will suit up for the Vikings. Mattison started two games for the Vikings last season, and coincidentally enough, also came in for an injured Cook during last year’s matchup with the Seahawks.

Overall, Mattison had terrific success in that game, totaling 20 carries for 112 yards. However, the play most Vikings fans will remember was the failed fourth down conversion that ultimately lost the game. This afternoon should bring more success for Mattison in the run game, but hopefully he can exorcise those demons with a Vikings win.

Also listed as inactive for this game are Anthony Barr, Christian Darrisaw, Harrison Hand, James Lynch, Kellen Mond, and Patrick Jones. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 CST.
