As previously reported, Adrian Peterson met with the New Orleans Saints yesterday. The meeting seemed off from the get-go, considering the role that Peterson would apparently fill in a Saints offense that already has bell-cow running back Mark Ingram, who is due over over three million dollars in 2017. Considering Peterson is presumably looking to be the main focus on whichever backfield he joins, it just never made a lot of sense for Peterson to sign with the Saints.
However, the meeting reportedly went well and both sides will continue to keep in touch, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Now, as I stated about a week ago, all of these fruitless meetings have lead me to believe (Increasingly) that Peterson will end up back on the Vikings when all is said and done. The Vikings still do need a running back that has Peterson’s skill-set, despite the signing of Latavius Murray, so stay tuned to see what happens with the legendary Vikings back.
