The View from VT: Goodbye to Massive OL, $25M Cap Space Boost, and MIN’s MVP

The View from VT: June 27th, 2026
1) The Vikings Said Goodbye to a Colossal O-Lineman Earlier in the Week: A major part of the Vikings’ offseason effort has involved getting larger and younger. Such an emphasis is quite apparent within the trenches. But while the trend holds, the Vikings still decided to move on.
2) The Vikings Appear to be Cruising Toward a $25 Million Cap Boost: Both of Brian O’Neill and Andrew Van Ginkel are cornerstone players in the Twin Cities. Each is moving into the final year of their contract. Does an extension for each make sense? If so, then there will be a hearty cap space boost.
3) New Viking Named Dark Horse for MVP: Consider, if you will, an argument completely unrelated to the article being offered. The NFL (the voters?) is being majorly stupid for not awarding the MVP to players other than QBs. Somebody such as DT Aaron Donald was more than worthy of the award several times.
4) The Top Development from the Vikings’ Offseason: The competition is actually a competition. Many have been operating under the belief that Kyler Murray was walking into the QB1 job without much hindrance, if any at all. Not so. Murray and J.J. McCarthy are battling.
5) Fox Sports Picks Winner of Vikings’ QB Battle: Safest bet remains Mr. Murray. He has proven capable of playing strong football as an NFL starter. What’s still to be determined is who will be the better option for the 2026 Minnesota Vikings. Again, Murray continues to lead the charge, but much work remains.
