Vikings GM Nolan Teasley Could Raise Jordan Addison’s Trade Chances

The Minnesota Vikings made the official decision on the vacant General Manager position on Saturday, appointing former Seattle Seahawks Assistant General Manager Nolan Teasley to be the guy to run the show.
Teasley assumed the Assistant GM role in 2023. Just two months after, the Seahawks drafted Jaxon Smith-Njigba, even though at the time, the team already employed Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. That was until the Seahawks released Lockett and traded Metcalf to the Steelers in 2025. Obviously, these turned out to be the right decisions, as Seattle would go on to win the Super Bowl with Smith-Njigba winning 2025 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
Teasley Might Not Be Afraid to Make Some Bold Moves

It is important to note that Teasley was the Assistant GM in Seattle. The lead-man is John Schneider, who has done an excellent job building out the Seahawks’ roster.
However, it is important to note the happenings in Seattle while Teasley had some authority. On top of the WR moves, while Teasley was Director of Pro Personnel, they made the shocking Russell Wilson trade with the Denver Broncos. Just last offseason, they got off of Geno Smith as well, and signed none-other than Sam Darnold.
Seattle hasn’t been afraid to make bold moves in recent seasons. These bold moves have paid off, largely due Seattle’s near impeccable drafting. Presumably, the track record of success can only inspire hope in Vikings fans. Maybe some of that magic in the Seattle front office has rubbed off a bit on Teasley.
But, what could that possibly mean for WR Jordan Addison?
Teasley and the Vikings Have a Jordan Addison Problem

This has nothing to do with Jordan Addison’s legal troubles in recent years, although those are obviously taken into consideration. Rather, this has everything to do with the financials of keeping Addison long-term.
Per OverTheCap, Jordan Addison is on the books for $18 million guaranteed in 2027 after the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option in April. Traditionally, the Vikings would look to extend him next offseason before that fifth year. However, should they really extend Addison?
If they were to extend Addison, then Minnesota would have quite the expensive WR room. Justin Jefferson has a cap number of $53.5 million in 2028, which would be the first year of the extension that Addison would theoretically sign. Obviously, that number for Jefferson will be different. However, his extension is valued at around $35 million per season. On the surface, if the Vikings were to extend Addison, they could be looking at a WR room valued at almost $70 million in Jefferson and Addison alone.
After adjustments and restructures to Jefferson’s contract would be made, that number would theoretically be back down around the $50-$60 million range. That is still a big number, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Vikings be alright with taking on that financial load.
What is going to be most interesting regarding the situation is to see how Nolan Teasley values that. Would he want to keep the duo of Jefferson and Addison together, or would he value the savings and draft compensation he would get with an Addison trade instead?
