Once a year around this time, the NFL Players Association releases report cards for each of the 32 franchises, grading categories like the facility, the coaching and nutrition staff, and the organization’s treatment of families.

A year ago, the Vikings ranked second after notching the top spot in 2023.

The NFLPA wrote about the list, “One of our core jobs as a union is to improve the overall working conditions for our players, which includes the daily experience of players at the team facilities away from the lights and cameras. 1,695 of our players provided information to share with one another about their current club, to not only help them make important career decisions, but also help raise standards across the league.”

Here are the Vikings’ results by category.

  • Head Coach: A+
  • Ownership: A+
  • Locker Room: A+
  • Treatment of Families: A+
  • Strength Coaches: A
  • Team Travel: A
  • Training Staff: A
  • Food/Dining Area: A-
  • Training Room: A-
  • Weight Room: A-
  • Nutritionist: B+

Only the Vikings, Dolphins, and Falcons received an A+ for ownership and head coach.

After clicking on the team profile, the NFLPA noted about the purple franchise, “Minnesota maintains their No. 2 ranking, continuing to have top-of-the-line facilities, a highly regarded coach and owner, and a helpful support staff. Despite already receiving high grades, they made additional improvements since the prior survey —most notably in the training staff, which saw its grade rise from a B to an A, the second highest in the league.”

The franchise even earned a gold standard treatment: “When asked what the team does best, players overwhelmingly praise how the organization cares for them and their families. The Vikings have been the gold standard when it comes to treatment of families since the inception of these report cards.”

It’s pretty obvious that Minnesota’s ownership is one of the best in the business. They helped build a wonderful U.S. Bank Stadium as well as TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota, a state-of-the-art facility.

Their willingness to spend money has been on display for years, and the familiar atmosphere is fun to watch from the outside. Players love it in Minnesota, and it’s a good reminder, as free agency is just days away.

Part of the success surely is head coach Kevin O’Connell, who arrived in 2022 and turned the franchise around from a rather toxic locker room culture to one of the best vibes in the NFL landscape. The result? A 14-3 regular season despite entering the year with low expectations.

The head coach received the Coach of the Year trophy a few weeks ago.
