Questions Answered: Rodgers’ Next Destination, Payton & Evero, The Bears #1 Pick
Q: If it’s down to the Jets, Raiders, and 49ers, where do you expect Aaron Rodgers to land?
A: We’d also like to add retirement and the Green Bay Packers in there. Both options are still on the table.
But if it is not retirement or Wisconsinville, we’ll pick the Raiders from the options given. Rodgers said on a golf course Thursday that he won’t be doing the 49ers, so that one should be ruled out.
The Jets are intriguing, but we refuse to believe Rodgers will exactly follow Brett Favre’s end-of-days script.
So, because Davante Adams plays there, let’s go with Las Vegas.
Q: Does Sean Payton control whether Ejiro Evero interviews for the Vikings defensive coordinator job?
A: If the Cardinals or Colts do not hire Evero as head coach, yes — Sean Payton controls Evero’s fate.
The Broncos (Payton) can disallow Evero from interviewing with another team as long as the job is a lateral move. And that’s what the Vikings job would be, as Evero was Denver’s defensive coordinator in 2022.
No matter what happens with Evero, the Cardinals, Colts, or Broncos, the Vikings defense should be in good hands with Evero, Brian Flores, or Sean Desai. We can dig it.
Q: Do you expect the Bears to draft another quarterback with the first overall pick?
A: No, we believe them when they say they’re committed to Justin Fields.
The Bears will flip the first overall pick for a naughty trade package, and that’s what they should do because it’s smart. Some team will give up a king’s ransom to draft Bryce Young, and Chicago doesn’t need-need a QB1. Trade the picks to a team like the Colts, draft Will Anderson, and you can’t lose (if you’re a Bears fan).
Fields remains the Bears QB1.
