Vikings Were Forced to Finish Week 5 Loss Without Key Star

The Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs faced off at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 5.
Ultimately, Minnesota would lose this game 27-20, and one of the major storylines down the stretch was the fact that the Vikings were forced to try and mount a comeback without one of their key stars: WR Justin Jefferson.
Vikings Were Forced to Finish Week 5 Without Key Star

As the Vikings drove down the field early in the fourth quarter, Jefferson came up hobbling after a play. He would promptly leave the field and later was described as questionable due to a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, though, the star receiver would not return to the field.
During his postgame press conference, head coach Kevin O’Connell again reiterated that it was a hamstring injury that hindered Jefferson’s ability to play, though he said it was “too early to tell” how much it will impact him moving forward.

Jefferson’s impact on the Vikings offense cannot be overstated. Though he was held to just three receptions for 28 yards on Sunday, he entered the weekend on a torrent pace with 33 receptions for a league-leading 543 receiving yards and 3 TDs.
If he were to miss any time moving forward, especially with the Vikings already sitting at 1-4, it could spell doom for the remainder of the season. Hopefully, Jefferson is able to return in time for next week’s matchup against the Chicago Bears as Minnesota hopes to salvage what is left of their season.
