Vikings Podcast: Dissecting Kwesi’s Checklist

As the NFL offseason ventures into its slowest portion, it’s worth remembering that Minnesota still has much to accomplish. Accordingly, Sizzlin’ Sam and I offer our reflections on what remains in front of the Purple & Gold. In the latest episode of Notes from the North – a humble Vikings podcast – we explain and dissect what the team needs to figure out over the summer months.

Take a peak at what Sizzlin’ Sam had to say: “On this week’s episode, Kyle and Sam look at the checklist of decisions and moves left for Kwesi this offseason. They talk Dalvin Cook, extensions, and free agents left to be signed.”

Dalvin Cook has slid into the spotlight because of Za’Darius Smith being shipped to Cleveland. Minnesota is exploring their options when it comes to trading Cook (though the Cowboys don’t seem super likely). A trio of teams I’m watching: the Dolphins, Bills, and Broncos.

The extension candidates make an appearance in the podcast episode. Very rightly, Justin Jefferson will reset the receiver market. Still only 23, Jefferson may not have hit the peak of his powers. Alongside the star receiver are T.J. Hockenson and Danielle Hunter, both of whom are foundational players. Someone we didn’t discuss: LG Ezra Cleveland. Keeping the former Boise State OT in town for a bit longer seems wise.

Finally, there is some chatter about the merit of adding another pass rusher. The top pair have some injury concerns, so leaning into some of that cap space has merit. Leonard Floyd, please, with a side dish of Justin Houston.
