Apparently, your author has seen one too many black cats or walked under one too many ladders throughout his life. In one of the worst cases of bad luck we’ve ever seen, mere hours after posting something speculatory regarding QB Aaron Rodgers’ trade status, it seems that talks ramped up again to the point where a deal is being finalized to send the four-time MVP to the Jets.

That’s right, after months (actually years) of speculation, it appears that the nightmare is over for Minnesota fans, and Rodgers is leaving cheese land to join the New York Jets. The trade compensation was initially reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The Packers will receive Nos. 13, 42, 207, and a 2024 conditional second-round pick that becomes a first-rounder if Rodgers plays 65% of plays. On the other side, the Jets receive Rodgers, No. 15, and No. 170.

After winning back-to-back MVPs in 2020 and 2021, Rodgers took a step back in 2022 with the Packers, passing for 3695 yards, 26 TDs, and 12 INTs this past year as the Packers went 8-9 and missed the playoffs due to their Week 18 loss to the Detroit Lions. Rodgers’ yardage total was the lowest of his career in a full season, and his 12 interceptions was just the third time in his career he had a double-digit interception total.

Now, after a long build-up, the Green Bay Packers seem poised to move forward with QB Jordan Love. The Utah State product was selected in 26th overall by Green Bay in the 2020 NFL Draft, and in his first three seasons, the QB has appeared in just 10 games with only a single start to his name.

In that time, Love has thrown for 606 yards, 3 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and completed 60.2% of his passes.

Meanwhile, Rodgers heads to a Jets offense that is absolutely loaded in terms of their skill positions. Garrett Wilson emerged as one of the best young receivers in the game last year, and he will be re-united with Allen Lazard, who caught 60 passes for 788 yards and 6 TDs in Green Bay before signing with the Jets in free agency, and the AFC East looks like one of the tougher divisions in football next season.
