Evidently, the Minnesota Vikings are still hunting for tight end depth for their 2022 roster. According to reports, they are working out another tight end on Tuesday this week. That tight end is former Green Bay Packer, Alize Mack.

This is the second tight end that the Vikings have been connected to in the last 24 hours. On Monday, Minnesota also signed Jacob O’Shaughnessy to their practice squad. This need for a tight end is due to the fact that rookie Nick Muse has been elevated from the practice squad three times this season, and in order to bring him onto the active roster again, Minnesota would have to sign him to the 53-man roster.

Additionally, Ben Ellefson has been on IR since mid-October, and there’s no indication that he is healthy enough to play. In fact, since the Vikings have continued looking for tight ends, it feels safe to assume that he won’t be able to play this week.

As for Mack, he was drafted in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. However, he is yet to appear in a regular season game for an NFL team. Prior to his NFL days, he played his college football with Notre Dame. He was with the Irish from 2015-18, and during his senior season, he recorded 36 receptions, 360 yards, and 3 TDs.

Overall, Mack played 24 college games with Notre Dame and 68 passes for 716 yards and 4 TDs.

Since returning to the NFL, though, he’s bounced around practice squads without being activated. He was waived by the Saints early in the 2019 season, and since then, he’s spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, and most recently the Green Bay Packers.

Mack was waived by the Packers on August 30th, and he’s been a free agent ever since. Perhaps his journey across the NFC North will continue with the Vikings following this workout.
