The Vikings May Be Down a Different Rookie in Week 2

The Vikings 2022 first round pick, Lewis Cine, was hoping to get his NFL career started on Sunday. Those plans got put on hold as he missed the season opener against the Packers with a knee injury. Heading into Week 2, it appears that Cine is on track to play Monday night in Philadelphia. That said, the Vikings may be down another rookie defensive back for the Eagles game in Andrew Booth Jr.

Booth left Sunday’s win against the Packers with a quad injury after his second special teams snap of the day and never returned. The injury, according to Kevin O’Connell is not considered “long-term”, but Booth’s status for Week 2 is still up in the air as of now.

Given that the Vikings play on Monday Night Football, they have an extra day to prepare for this game. This extra time could be extremely beneficial to Booth as he tries to recover from his injury.

Throughout his time with the Clemson Tigers, Booth often found himself struggling with injuries, so this is nothing new. This is the main reason why he was available for the Vikings in the middle of the second round while being a prototypical first-round talent at the cornerback position.

If Booth is in fact unable to go, expect to see a lot of Kris Boyd and Akayleb Evans once again on Monday night.
